Scythes are thought to be old school, but better blades and an ergonomic set up makes them one of the most efficient tools out there. Learn the sharper points of this elegant tool.
What makes a good scythe, how to select the right scythe blade for your needs and how to properly maintain it for years of efficient use. Come learn all the finer points about scythes. Setting the blade in the snathe, sharpening them in the field and peening them to maintain the edge. Learn how to adjust the blade to cut different material and techniques to use in different situations. How to mow around young trees, along paths, against fence lines, buildings, in the open field and in groups. Brian has been using a scythe to maintain Inspiration Farms paths, gardens and fields for the past 10 years. Cutting the grass for animal fodder, mulch, green material for compost creation and grain harvesting. He has studied with renowned scythe expert Alexander Vido from Scythe Works in Canada where he learned old school ways to work with and maintain scythes.
