🌿 Reading the Landscape for Permaculture Design
July 13, 2019 @ 10:00 am – July 14, 2019 @ 4:00 pm

Learn skills to read and design your landscape. Pattern with it to create integrated systems of abundance and productivity! We will look at natural occurring features such as slope, aspect, existing trees, weeds, wildlife, drainage and soil profiles to design for human integration as a part of a regenerative ecosystem. We will explore strategies for resilient water, nutrient cycling, soil regeneration, food production, animal systems and more.
Curriculum Includes: Permaculture Ethics and Design Principles, Pattern Recognition, Climate Factors and micro climates, Water Management, Soil, Earthworks, Trees, Surveying and Mapping. Leading up to an exercise of mapping and placing elements within a holistic design.
Whole systems thinking focuses on the relationships between various elements within the system. The patterns that emerge allow you to position each element so that it takes less energy to produce a yield while everything in the system continues to get all its needs met to extend and thrive.
Class format includes lectures, discussions, tours and hands-on activities.
