Description

The Yuzu Citrus Tree is a unique and rare citrus plant that comes from Japan and Korea.  this hardy variety bears abundant, easy-to-peel, 3 inch diameter fruit with tasty, lemon-lime flavor. The tree itself is the most hardy citrus there is, growing well all through zone 7. Yuzu is reportedly hardy to 0° F.

It grows into a small tree or bush, no more than 10 feet tall, and has fragrant white blossoms in spring. This tree can also be grown in a large pot, and it does not need to be brought inside until the temperatures fall to freezing point. Keep it indoors in a cool, brightly-lit place during the coldest weather, not in the heat of your house. Keep it outdoors in a sunny place the rest of the year.

Yuzu can be grown outdoors in regions with mild winters. It likes 1/2 day to full sun and well drained soil. If growing it in a pot, in the winter place your plant in a well-lit room. Potting soil should be coarse, acidic, and well-drained. Self-fertile, but you can help it set fruit by taking a small brush and moving pollen from flower to flower.
This plant will not normally be bothered by pests or diseases, and it is easy to grow, yet attractive and very novel.
Hardiness: Hardy to about 0° F. USDA Zone: 7
